Chicago Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk
Windy City Welcomes Get Your Rear in Gear
The Coalition was thrilled with a terrific first time turnout for the inaugural Chicago Get Your Rear in Gear 5K run and walk and Kids Fun Run. Just over 650 participants joined in the fun, braving warm temperatures, a bit of rain and some gusty wind to help make a difference in the fight against colon and rectal cancer in the greater Chicago area.
Chicago had 28 terrific Teams pull together for this year’s event. Our largest Team was Team Kathopectate with 38 enthusiastic members. Top fundraising honors went to the Keeley’s Crew Team that raised $7,585 for the cause. Our top individual fundraiser was Mary Grecek who helped raise $6,300 under the Keeley’s Crew banner. A special mention to Amanda Degard from Team Faye-bulous Force who helped raise $5,095 of her Team’s $5,120 total in donations and to Sara Ebel, who as an individual, helped to raise $1,002.
A fantastic local event committee joined by many terrific volunteers made this event extra special for all the participants. And the food was abundant and fabulous! We are already looking forward to bigger and better things in Chicago for 2010. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event so successful.
